From uniforms to sport equipment to books - The Cook Labor Government understands that families are facing rising costs for their school aged kid's essential items.

To support low-income families, there is financial assistance for Years 7-12 available by applying for the Secondary Assistance Scheme (SAS). The scheme is open to parents and guardians with children enrolled in public or non-government schools or registered for homeschooling.

The SAS clothing allowance has been increased to $300 for the 2025 school year. This builds on the WA Student Assistance Payment, which has made available $250 for all Western Australian secondary students, and $150 for all primary students and kindergarteners.

More information on the clothing allowance scheme and eligibility can be found here.
