The Cook Labor Government is supporting Western Australians with low-fee and fee-free TAFE courses to get the skills needed for quality local jobs by investing $100 million in 2026.
In a partnership with the Albanese Government, we’re delivering over 130 fee-free qualifications across key industries and high priority areas – including early childhood, health care, aged and disability care, hospitality and tourism, construction, and information technology.
We are investing $22 million to expand fee-free TAFE to include seven new construction qualifications from next year, 2026.
Fee-free TAFE will run alongside the Cook Government’s ‘Low fees, local skills’ program, which reduces fees on around 160 courses by 72% (compared to 2017 fees).
There are also free Job Ready skill sets available as a pathway into a short course and then into a job.
Available fee-free courses can be found at https://www.jobsandskills.wa.gov.au/skillsready
