The McGowan Labor Government is serious about reducing the impact of plastics on our planet- that's why we've fast tracked our Plan for Plastics by four years.

January 1 2022 marked an important date in our fight against single use plastics, with plastic plates, bowls, cups, cutlery, stirrers, straws, think plastic bags, polystyrene food containers, and helium balloon releases to be phased out. There will be a transition period with a focus on education the community and businesses.

I am aware of many schools, community groups and local businesses that have been doing their bit to reduce plastics use, this is an integral part of making our community more sustainable.

I am keen to continue engaging with our local community around our Plan for Plastics- including holding information forums, speaking at school assembly's, etc.
